Halloween is just around the corner, and whether you like it or not, that means everything is going to get spooky. But Applebee's wants to combine the spook with the spunk, which is why they're introducing $1 "zombie" drinks for the month of October.
It's not the first time the chain restaurant has offered $1 drink specials, either. Earlier this year they had $1 Bahama Mamas.
They also had $1 Long Island Iced Teas.
And they had $1 strawberry margaritas as recently as August.
It seems like the trend has been pretty popular, too. Applebee's announced their Dollar Zombie drinks on Twitter, and honestly they sound delicious. The drink is described as an "infectious rum cocktail," which is flavored with pineapple, passion fruit, cherry, and lime. On top of each drink there's a gummy brain, because it's a zombie drink and it's nothing without brains.
"Halloween is a favorite holiday around here, and we're excited to offer guests the opportunity to celebrate all month long with our new DOLLAR ZOMBIE," Patrick Kirk, VP of beverage innovation at Applebee's, said in a release. "We invite people to get into the spirit early by trying our Neighborhood Drink with an infectious taste. The only thing to fear this Halloween is missing out on this awesome drink."
First off, the fact that there's a legitimate job called "VP of beverage innovation" is wild enough. Second, this drink sounds like it's a lot sweeter than any zombie feast. What's even cooler, though, is that the drink was a created by fans.
According to the Applebee's website, "the DOLLAR ZOMBIE marks the first time Applebee's has crowd-sourced its Neighborhood Drink of the Month, with guests providing input on everything from the drink's color to the flavors and garnish. The result is a scary-delicious combination of rum and pineapple, passion fruit, cherry and lime flavors."
And seeing as fans are the ones who made the drink, it makes sense that they're excited about it.
Applebee's is famous for these types of promotions, and while the $1 drinks are great, I'm personally waiting for the day they bring back their gift card promotion. The chain restaurant ran a promotion that let customers use old gift cards from any store or restaurant as credit towards their meal. So if you had an old Target gift card with $25 left, you would get $25 off your meal. Ummm...YES PLEASE.
For now, though, we'll have to settle for these zombie drinks.
