Fans of Criminal Minds were left heartbroken when special agent Derek Morgan left the show.
Shemar Moore's departure is potentially the hardest we had to deal with, after having been on the show for 11 years, since the beginning of it all.
The fan favorite was a hunky, charming, smart character whose relationship with Gracia was enviable among all women. His goofy big-brother relationship with Dr. Spencer Reid was enough to make hearts melt all over the world.
But, alas, all things come to an end. Shemar Moore left the show last season and left all of us crushed.
Shemar Moore had teased about a possible return last year, but nothing was concrete.
"This business is all about politics, so I'm not promising anything," he said. "But from a creative place, from a passionate place, if I'm asked intermittently to come back like they did at The Young and the Restless, from my heart, the answer is yes, yes, yes, yes. But I don't know where I'm going to be in my career and my life when that time comes. But is it possible? Yes, it's possible."
Lucky for us, CBS announced that Shemar Moore will be reprising his role as Derek Morgan in the season 12 finale of Criminal Minds.
"In the episode, Morgan brings the BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit) a lead in the case against serial killer and escaped convict Mr. Scratch, who has wreaked havoc on the team all season," released CBS.
Shemar took to Instagram to confirm the return and express how happy he is!
To say we're excited about seeing Derek Morgan back at the BAU is a complete understatement.
