It can be a pretty scary thing to witness your best friend suffer an injury as serious as the one Jesus Hueche suffered after falling from a tree.
The man was pruning a tree outside his Argentinian home in Bahia Blanca while his faithful friend looked on, when he slipped and fell to six feet to the pavement below.
When Hueche landed, he cracked his head on the pavement and lost consciousness.
His beloved rescue dog, Tony, raced over to his pal's side and refused to budge.
Neighbors saw what happened and immediately called an ambulance. While they waited, Tony climbed onto Hueche's body and laid across his stomach.
The Independent reports that Hueche suffered "slight skull trauma" and was fitted with a neck brace. But when EMT's tried to lift him into the ambulance, Tony tried to climb in too.
He didn't know where they were taking his best friend, but wherever it was, he needed to be by his side. After some coaxing, the emergency personnel managed to keep Tony clear long enough to transport Hueche to the hospital.
But he didn't go alone...
Thankfully, his injuries were minor and he was released the next day.
Photos of Tony's endearing loyalty made waves on social media after they were shared online. When local radio station La Brujula 24 reached out for an interview, Hueche explained that Tony was an important member of the family.
"He goes everywhere with me and lies in my bed until my wife kicks him out," he said, "one day we saw him on the street and adopted him, gave him love, food and is part of our family. For me he's like a son.
Good boy, Tony!
