When I was four years old, my grandfather passed away.  Not only was it a heartbreaking experience for my entire family, but it left my grandmother without her beloved husband of over 40 years.

Soon after, my parents decided to invite her to move in with us, and she's become like a third parent to me ever since. People with close relationships to their grandparents know there's nothing you wouldn't do for them.

One person who knows this sentiment to be true is 25-year-old Fu Xuewei.

Fu was only 10 years old when her parents separated and she moved to Chengdu, China to be raised by her grandparents.

Eight years later, Fu moved to Switzerland and then Singapore for university, but made sure to keep the close bond she shared with her loved ones. The entrepeneur said she considers her grandparents as her "close friends" who she can talk about anything to, and even go to clubs with. She said her grandfather was always a "macho" man, but spoiled her rotten.

Sadly, Fu's grandfather became critically ill last September and doctors said the 87-year-old man could pass away at "any time."

Once she found out about his diagnosis, Fu decided she had to fulfill his dying wish.

Her grandfather had always hoped he would be able to walk her down the aisle, but with no romantic partner in sight, Fu was unsure if he'd still be around on her big day.

"My grandfather would be the one to give me away on my wedding," Fu said. "Because I don't know if he could live long enough to see that, I wanted to make sure he could do that now."

She decided to spend 3,000 yuan ($475) on a surprise photo shoot for her grandfather, where she be in a gorgeous white dress and he would don a dapper suit.  

She didn't tell her grandfather until they arrived at his doctor's appointment, with an IV drip still placed in his vein.

Two years ago, Fu said her grandfather also suffered from a cerebral stroke, where he was unable to move his body and had to stay in the hospital for three months, so she knows their time together is limited.

Fu said she plans on cherishing every minute she has with her grandfather, and along with the professional pictures, she also got his face tattooed on her arm.

"I had my grandfather's portrait tattooed on my arm in January because I want my new friends and my children to be able to know what he looks like in the future," she said.
