When 25-year-old Sarah Tough set out on a walk along the shores of Crimond Beach in County Durham, England, she certainly didn't expect to be returning home with a bloody nose.
Tough definitely lived up to her last name when she defended a baby seal from a group of vicious teenagers and their dog.
She wrote in a Facebook post that the teens were "rolling him around and burying it in the sand, letting their dog on it."
The brave woman then told the group that she'd call the cops if they don't stop tormenting the poor animal but instead of complying, one of the boys responded by punching her in the nose.
"I have a nose piercing and the punch meant that my piercing punctured my septum. The rest of them started to laugh when I was hit."
As any loyal dog would do, Tough's pup, Tally, came to her defense and bit the boy who punched her. The culprit and his friends managed to escape but to ensure that the baby seal will receive proper care, Tough contacted the RSPCA. She explained that they "got there in record time, gave him food, etc."
Thankfully both the seal and Tough are fine. I think we can all agree that the world needs more compassionate people like Sarah Tough!
