Going to a kennel while your owners are away can be a pretty scary thing for a dog. They are in an unusual place, sometimes with a bunch of other dogs and they have no idea what to do. For puppies who have just been rescued it can be even more frightening.

One dog knows just how overwhelming the whole process is, and when she heard the two puppies crying in the night she did everything in her power to go find them and comfort them.

Maggie was staying at the Barkers Pet Motel and Grooming facility when her family went on vacation and she was behaving just fine. But when the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society dropped of some puppies who had just been rescued, her maternal instincts kicked in.

<amp-img src="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/12669579_1016285811764739_5860352176156078559_n.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

The CCTV camera captured the ordeal. Maggie managed to get out of her pen by moving the water dish that was attached to the door and she squeezed through the opening. She can be seen running up and down the aisles until she finds the puppies and that's when she did something so remarkable.

She just lay down right in front of the little babies, as if to let them know that they aren't alone. The owner of the pet motel, Sandy Aldred, says that Maggie had just had puppies herself and was a former shelter dog.

<amp-img src="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/barker-s-pet-motel-and-grooming.jpg" srcset="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/barker-s-pet-motel-and-grooming_GH_content_550px.jpg 550w" sizes="89vw" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

"She paid them a lot of attention and you could see her little tail wagging. And she'd do the little bow down to them and poke them through the chainlink gate of their room," Aldred told CBC News.
