In 1939, the Great Northern Railway built the Izaak Walton Inn in the town of Essex, Montana, to house rail workers. There were plans to add more stops and expand the hotel to offer visitors to the nearby Glacier National Park a place to stay.
The expansion plans were scraped due to the Second World War, but the inn continued to thrive on a smaller scale thanks to tourism from ski and hiking enthusiasts.
These days, the inn's main attractions are the couple of refurbished train cars that have been turned into modern hotel rooms.
The unusual caboose cabins are equipped with everything you'd find in an average home, including a full kitchen with appliances, bathroom, living room, and bedroom.
"We get a lot of rail fans here who just go crazy over the trains," said Elise Wright, the general manager of the Izaak Walton Inn.

The red caboose is the original car of the Great Northern X215 freight train that used to pass through Essex in 1941.
These days it has been transformed into a cabin that can comfortably accommodate up to six people.

In addition to the two sets of bunk beds, there is a master bedroom equipped with a fireplace to keep guests warm on chilly nights.
The red car isn't the only renovated vintage caboose at Izaak Walton Inn. There are at least four more on the property, including some that are large enough to fit a small family.
The JJ car is designed with oak floors and birch walls, along with some beautiful leather and hide details.
The green Burlington Northern car is also designed for smaller groups.
As for thee orange car, it is the favorite of most couples, and it includes a king-size bed and romantic touches throughout.
