But now vets and animal welfare groups are warning about the dangers of dressing up your pooch. Putting your dog in a cute outfit can cause them to overheat, or give them a number of skin conditions.
It can seem hard to believe if you live somewhere cold, but vets say that dogs can regulate their temperature perfectly well with just their fur.
Mark Johnston, from the British Small Animal Veterinary Association, says that "dressing them in a coat diminishes the animal's ability to regulate their own body temperature, and could be detrimental if the animal gets too hot."
While skin diseases may not seem like a big deal, it's a very common problem for dogs. It can also make your pet pretty uncomfortable, so it's best to be careful.
Even though most dog owners say they only dress their dog up to keep them warm, there are still lots of people who put their pets in costumes.
This is definitely fun for us, and we get to enjoy lots of cute pictures, but maybe we should be more considerate of our animals and how we treat them.
