Who doesn't love a Pop Tart? They were your favorite breakfast when you were a kid and you know what, who doesn't love to eat one every once and a while now? Well, now it's time to bring the pastry to the dinner table by turning it into a Taco Pop Tart!
Turning the classic sweet treat into a savory snack is the perfect way to upgrade a classic. You and your kids are going to love these!
Ingredients:
- 2 boxes refrigerated pie crusts, room temperature
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
- 1 cup frozen corn, thawed
- 1 cup canned black beans, drained
- 1 cup shredded cheddar
- 1 egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water
- sesame seeds for sprinkling
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
Heat your oil in a skillet with until hot then add the onions. Saute for 5 minutes then add in the beef.
Stir in the taco seasoning in and then add corn and beans, cooking for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool a little bit so the filling is just warm.
Roll out your pie crust and cut it into six even rectangles.
Put the rectangles onto the baking sheet.
Add a spoonful of your beef mixture into the center of your pastry and then top with a small handful of shredded cheese.
Top with the other pie crusts and then use a fork to crimp the edges to seal them. Cut a few slices in the tops so they have a little escape for the steam.
Brush on the egg was and sprinkle on some sesame seeds.
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden.
