<div><p>Losing a furry member of your family is just as devastating as losing a human you love. It is very normal to mourn your pet in the best way you see fit. </p><p>While many people like to do so behind closed doors, there are some who publicly acknowledge their loss. Actor Tom Hardy is one of them. </p><p>He may be known for playing the tough-guy in movies like <em>The Dark Knight Rises</em> and <em>Inception,</em> but when it comes to dogs Hardy is a big softie. </p><p>The actor lost his beloved dog, Woody, last week at the age of 6 due to polymyositis. And he was my best friend. The labrador mix was often present on set, accompanied Hardy to red carpet events and even had a brief cameo in <em>Peaky Blinders</em>. </p><p>"He has been on many sets. Met many crews. Photo shoots premieres made many many friends he was #73 most influential animal in TIME magazine.He's been in peaky blinders. Legend everyone who met him loved him. He didn't have a bad bone in his body. All he knew was love."</p><div><div><div><amp-youtube height="9" width="16" layout="responsive" data-videoid="-buMRduwOU4"></amp-youtube></div></div></div><p><!-- [invalid-shortcode] --></p><p>Hardy, who is otherwise a very private guy, couldn't help but speak out about Woody's death because not only did he touch the actor's life, he "affected so many people in his own right."</p><p>"Above all I am completely gutted," admitted Hardy towards the end of the letter. "The world for me was a better place with him in it and by my side. To the bestest friend ever. To me and to a family who loved him beyond words and whom he loved without doubt more than I have ever known. Woody was the bestest of journey companions we ever could dream of having.
