It's been three years in the making, but when their inside joke finally went public, the internet refused to let them remain apart.
Like most young people, Josh Avsec and Michelle Arendas, were using the internet to find a love match made in cyber heaven. Unlike most young couples, these two took a more light-hearted approach to things when Tinder matched them up in 2014.
Both are busy students at Kent State University whose timing wasn't exactly perfect - or was it?
The three-year-long joke/conversation got started in September 2014, when Josh sent Michelle a message after they matched. Two months later, she replied with "Hey sorry my phone died!"
And so began modern romance's longest running joke.
For years, the adorable (dare we say) soon-to-be love birds "missed" each other's messages and responded with hilarious excuses.
Finally, about three years later, Josh shared their messages to Twitter in early July 2017. He wrote, "one day I'm going to meet this girl and it's going to be epic."

Josh and Michelle couldn't believe it, but they didn't refuse. The two decided to accept Tinder's generous offer and chose Maui, Hawaii as their first date destination!
Before flying off into the sunset, Josh and Michelle agreed to meet for the first time, face-to-face on the set of Good Morning America.
Understandably, they're nervous, but it's sweet and you can't help but hope that it works out for them!
