They may be considered country music's biggest power couple, but at the end of the day, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are just two people who fell in love with each other and unlike many celebrity relationships, this couple's love stood the test of time.
The couple have worked hard to keep their love strong for over two decades. They recently celebrated their 21st anniversary, and they did it in the best way they know how.
Around the time they reached the milestone, they released their first duet album, The Rest of Our Life, and embarked on their Soul2Soul World Tour.
"It's such a rare thing to be able to experience what we do for a living, and to do it together, really feels like all the moments are special," McGraw told People in a new interview. Hill added, "I watch him perform and still to this day I'm awed by it."
Even after all these years, those close to the couple, like McGraw's former publicist Holly Gleason, can't help but notice how much they're still crazy in love with each other.
"Watching Tim and Faith onstage is like two hours of total foreplay," said Gleason, who is also a music writer. "It's sexy. It's adult."
McGraw met Hill in 1996 when she was an opening act on his Spontaneous Combustion tour. The "This Kiss" singer was engaged to her producer at the time, but that didn't stop her from falling in love with McGraw.
The pair bonded over music and being rejected by a parent. Hill became pregnant with their first child, Gracie, just a few months later, and in October that same year, they tied the knot. McGraw called the wedding the event that "poured gasoline" on their careers.
Like every other couple, "a lot has changed" in McGraw and Hill's relationship over the years. They have welcomed two more daughters, Maggie and Audrey, and gone through many ups and downs, including health complications and addiction.
But at the end of the day, there are a few things they do in their marriage that has stayed the same for decades.
The couple told People that they prioritize having alone time. Despite McGraw admitting that he "could listen to her [Hill] sing all night," they still try to make sure they're not constantly with each other.
"We both have our daily routines and we have our own dressing rooms. We each have our own space to retreat to so we do get time to ourselves," Hill explained.
In fact, their joint album and tour is the first time that they have been in the studio together. Hill said "it was nice to be together for the creative process."
The couple also said that they make sure to dedicate time to date nights.
"We just saw Springsteen on Broadway the other night in New York and it was the most incredible thing I've ever seen," said McGraw. "Watching him and Patti together was magical."
However, they also admitted that as they get older, date night isn't always about going out. They like to keep it "low-key" and spend time with their daughters.
"Funny, as we get older it's less about the big gestures and more about just spending the time together at home," said McGraw. "For our 20th wedding anniversary, we stayed home, in our pajamas and watched TV. We loved it."
McGraw and Hill also believe the power of prayer has helped them weather through the rough patches.
"Tim and I share a quick quiet moment together before hitting the stage," revealed Hill. "Always praying."
What a wonderful couple. Here's to another 21 more years of love!
