It was an unbearable sight for a father to witness: His three daughters reading their victim impact statements against disgraced USA gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar.
The 54-year-old former doctor was sentenced to 40 to 125 years in prison for sexual abuse, but for one father in the courtroom, that sentence wasn't enough.
Randall Margraves was filled with rage, and had a few words to share during the sentencing. He turned to Nassar and said, "You son of a b***h," before asking Judge Janice Cunningham to grant him another request, "I would ask you to as part of the sentencing to grant me five minutes in a locked room with this demon. Would you do that? Would you give me one minute?"
Of course, his request was denied, which only meant the distressed father was going to take matters of justice into his own hands.
Margraves lunged toward Nassar, but was tackled to the ground and removed from the courtroom before he was able to make a physical impact on the former doctor.
A GoFundMe page started under his name and raised $31,311 before the account closed, but not even a cent of that money will be spent on himself...
Margraves was released without charges, but appreciates all the support he's received. In a press conference, he apologized for what he did, and stressed that he shouldn't be the one to be praised: "I want to make it real clear that I am no hero. My daughters are the heroes and all the victims and the survivors of this terrible atrocity."
The fundraising account was made for the father, but Margraves doesn't want to cash in on that money.
"At the time of the incident, I didn't know that the great brotherhood had done this, and I was overcome with gratitude when I found out," Margraves said in a statement. "I appreciate everyone stepping up to support me, but help is not needed for me. After giving people the chance to get a refund, the donations will go to organizations that help the sisterhood of survivors and other victims of abuse."
Donors are able to get a refund before March. 9, or their donation will be given to charities that help sexual abuse survivors.
