We've seen lots of ways to renovate your home on a budget before, but this is definitely the simplest trick we've discovered.

Curtain rods are so expensive, and a real pain to set up. Shelley Detton, who runs the blog 7 Layer Studio, was dreading installing rods over the the windows in her office, which are all at three different angles.

Then, she realized she could save lots of money and time just using PVC piping.

<amp-img src="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/02/rndr_782x440-2.jpg" srcset="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/02/rndr_782x440-2_GH_content_550px.jpg 550w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/02/rndr_782x440-2_GH_content_650px.jpg 650w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/02/rndr_782x440-2_GH_content_750px.jpg 750w" sizes="89vw" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

"I didn't want to spend a fortune on these walls," she wrote, "and I wanted the drapes to completely cover the space between the windows, so I knew I could get away with the 45 angle PVC couplers and the super cheap curtain rod brackets."

You can buy all these supplies at your local hardware store for almost nothing, and Shelley spray painted the pipes with special plastic, so it doesn't look like a bargain job.

<amp-img src="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/02/done-2.png" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

In the end, Detton says the whole project only cost her $20.

Next time you think about spending money, remember Shelley and see if there's and easier way!

Share this post if you think this idea is clever!
