Children really are our future and if young Ryan Hickman from Orange County, CA has anything to say about it, our future is in good hands.
When hew as just 3 years old, he went with his father to recycle for the first time. After sorting his bottles and cans into plastic bags and bringing them to the local recycling center, he became obsessed with recycling.
He told his parents that he wanted to give his neighbors plastic bags so that they too could save their recyclables for him. Not only did they save their recyclables, but so did their friends, families and coworkers!
Ryan's mission was so successful, he was able to start his own business: Ryan's Recycling. Every day, for the past four years, he has been sorting through cans and bottles from customers all over Orange County.
Now 7, Ryan has recycled over 200,000 bottles and cans. So far, he's earned about $21,000.
According to his website, this amazing little boy is saving for his future college education, or maybe a full-size trash truck! Depending on who you ask.
