Mike Rowe is famous because he does the dirty jobs that most of us won't do. The hard work has made him quite successful and also made him a target for one intrepid young Girl Scout.

<amp-img src="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/mikerowe-theperiphery.jpg" srcset="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/mikerowe-theperiphery_GH_content_550px.jpg 550w" sizes="89vw" title="Mike Rowe" alt="Mike Rowe" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>
The Periphery

Charlotte McCourt is a Girl Scout and her dad Sean works with Mike Rowe on a podcast. One day Charlotte overheard her father describe Rowe as "very rich" and she knew what she had to do.

What she did exactly wasn't discovered until Sean checked his email later the next day. What he found in the Sent Folder came from his address, but wasn't written by him.

The email begins:

"I've been informed that you'd like to purchase several cookie boxes for our troops serving overseas. Most importantly, I would like to tell you about the cookies themselves, for some of the descriptions I'm afraid use false advertising."

She went on to describe the cookies in vivid detail, and wasn't afraid to point out the ones she disliked, describing the "Toffee-tastic" cookies as a "bleak, flavorless, gluten-free wasteland."

<amp-img src="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/charlottemccourt-abcnews.jpg" srcset="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/charlottemccourt-abcnews_GH_content_550px.jpg 550w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/charlottemccourt-abcnews_GH_content_650px.jpg 650w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/charlottemccourt-abcnews_GH_content_750px.jpg 750w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/charlottemccourt-abcnews_GH_content_850px.jpg 850w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/charlottemccourt-abcnews_GH_content_950px.jpg 950w" sizes="89vw" title="McCourt" alt="McCourt" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>
ABC News

I think someone's been reading too many reviews.

Mike Rowe thought the whole encounter was hilarious, and posted a video of him reading the email in full on his Facebook page.

Charlotte may have bitten off more than she could chew however because Rowe shared a link for people to buy cookies from her group. Her goal was 300 and she soon had over 15,000 orders.

Rowe shared an update with his Facebook following not long after the video was posted:

"Well over 7,000 boxes sold, and almost every single order includes a troop donation. There is no specific breakout of troops vs home delivery, but safe to say that well over 90% of the orders include a donation."

Looks like Charlotte won't be getting in trouble for her little hack, and she has her father's "very rich" friend to thank.

<amp-facebook data-href="https://www.facebook.com/TheRealMikeRowe/videos/1417382278271911" layout="responsive" height="600" width="640"></amp-facebook>
