A few days ago, it was announced that Paula Faris will be saying goodbye to her positions at Good Morning America and The View in order to focus on her job as a breaking news reporter at ABC News.
The network's president, James Goldston, revealed in a memo to the staff that the anchor, who is very religious, will be starting a podcast "on faith to explore what unites people of all backgrounds even in these divisive times."
"Excited/grateful for the opportunity to cover big stories & talk to the people at the center of them," Faris tweeted. "Thank you to the gracious teams at @GMA Sat./Sun. and @TheView Not going far but I'll miss you. However, I won't miss that 3am wake up on weekends! ;)"
She later told People that her decision to scale back didn't come lightly, but she knew she had to after reevaluating her priorities following a "really tough miscarriage."
"I feel like it was in that moment that really repositioned my priority compass and our family's priority compass," the mother explained. "I realized that my kids need me in the stands and on the sidelines, my husband and I need that time to reconnect."
Now, mere days after Faris' departure was announced, another one of her colleagues and The View co-host will also be exiting the show.
Page Six reported that Sara Haines will be leaving the daytime panel talk show to take on a new role at Good Morning America.
While ABC has not released an official statement confirming the news, Haines herself made the announcement during Monday's episode of the show.
I have a big announcement, it is bittersweet, so I'm going to start with the bitter part, which is just the sad part. I will be leaving the show, for the best reason, but I have to start with this. I have dreamt about, I have watched the show since it began -- look at who I'm flanked by ... at the whole table ... but there are days I go to look at Whoopi and I can't finish a sentence because I remember it's Whoopi Goldberg.
Every time I hear the theme music, I remember watching at home on my couch," she said. "This has been a dream I've always had to be on this show. Every day I walk out here, I've never taken it for granted.
Haines said her thank yous before adding, "I never thought in a million years I would be leaving one dream job for another dream job."
The 40-year-old journalist will be joining the third hour of GMA, which will replace The Chew's 1 p.m. time lost.
Haines, who joined The View as a guest host in 2014, will be co-anchoring the new afternoon show, titled GMA Day, with NFL star-turned-television personality Michael Strahan.
Unlike GMA's morning hour, the upcoming show will be pre-taped, according to Variety. However, since many of the details are still unconfirmed, the actual format of the show remains unknown.
What we do know is that it is scheduled to premiere on September 10, and as ABC has previously promised, it will feature different topics in news and pop culture, and include interviews as well as live events.
Haines, and the rest of her co-hosts, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Meghan McCain, are keeping a tight lip about the shuffling of roles that have been going on at ABC, so we'll just have to wait a while to find out who will be filling in her spot on the panel.
The news of these departures comes on the heels of a controversy involving Whoopi and the show's guest Jeanine Pirro.
Pirro accused the host of "spitting" on her after an intense argument they had on the show continued backstage after filming wrapped up.
The judge, who was invited on the show to promote her new book, alleged that Goldberg started screaming insults at her, "literally spitting at me, 'F you, get the F out of this building.'"
"She was screaming at me and I'm walking out of the building like a dog who was just ticked off. So forget about what she did to me on set, which was horrific in itself, but the treatment by Whoopi Goldberg is typical of what is going on in this country," Pirro said on The Sean Hannity Show.
Goldberg has since cleared the air about what happened behind-the-scenes. She admitted to saying some "choice words" to Pirro, but she neither spit nor chased her out of the building.
She said she reacted in the way she did because The View doesn't tolerate "calling people names."
You can come to this show, we treat everybody with respect,"Goldberg continued. "But you cannot come and call people names. You cannot point at people and you can't do this to people. And people who know Jeanine know exactly what I'm talking about. they know she likes to stir it up. I rarely get stirred up, but I got stirred up yesterday. And I did apologize for getting hot, I said, it doesn't happen often. Every 10 years it seems.
Pirro hasn't responded to Goldberg's latest comments, but it's probably just a matter of time until she does.
