The MGM Grand is one of the most exclusive casino resorts at the south end of the Las Vegas Strip. Situated opposite New York-New York Hotel & Casino, MGM Grand has developed a reputation for staging headline sporting events and unforgettable entertainers. Although significant development continues at pace to the north end of the Strip, the MGM Grand remains a favorite with locals and tourists alike.

The MGM brand has long been synonymous with the entertainment and gambling industries. After starting out as a Hollywood movie and television production firm, it branched out into hospitality, with a specialty for casino resorts in Las Vegas and elsewhere in the US. More recently, it’s expanded into regulated online gaming, with its recent welcome offer catching the eye with casino aggregators that list the best available promotions across the US iGaming scene.

The MGM Grand is not just a gaming paradise, but also a place for fanatical foodies, as the five following eateries testify. Below, we showcase the best dining options available to first-time visitors of the third-largest hotel complex on the planet.

Joël Robuchon

Fine dining doesn’t come much better than at the French-inspired Joël Robuchon restaurant. This place is not just the winner of an AAA Five Diamond award, it’s a Three Star Michelin eatery, bringing delicate flavors to the table in a decadent environment. Formal dress code sets the scene brilliantly, while its Art Deco townhouse-esque interiors make you feel at home.

It's by no means an easy task to get a booking though. There are only 12 tables at Joël Robuchon, adding to the air of exclusivity. The Prixe Fixe 16-course tasting menu is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, bringing the finest artistry and food innovation that’s guaranteed to wow your palate.

L’Atelier – Joël Robuchon

Joël Robuchon has not one but two award-winning restaurants within the grounds of the MGM Grand. L’Atelier is a little easier on the wallet and ideal for those wanting a special meal with a more informal atmosphere. Although it remains French fine dining cuisine, there is a greater hint of fun and flair here.

In fact, the kitchen at L’Atelier is open in the middle of the restaurant floor. This means you can sit back and watch the staff prepare your meal before your very eyes. Be aware that both Joël Robuchon restaurants are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, respectively.

If high-end Asian cuisine is your bag, look no further than Hakkasan. This contemporary Chinese restaurant is a stylish place to enjoy 21st century Cantonese delicacies. When the sun goes down, this place really comes alive. It doubles-up as a world-class nightclub too.

The chef at Hakkasan in MGM Grand is Pinyo Saewu, who has a personal love for Cantonese food. Group dining booths can be booked for parties of 12 or more, making this a wonderful venue for special occasions. The $138-per-head Phoenix Menu gives you a chance to sample all the best appetizers, entrees and sides you could wish for.

Morimoto Las Vegas

If you prefer delicate Japanese dishes to Cantonese fare, Morimoto Las Vegas should be your first stop in MGM Grand. This high-end Japanese restaurant is led by chef Masaharu Morimoto, who made his name on the infamous Iron Chef. What’s great about chef Morimoto is that he only plays by his rules – and the main rule is that there are no rules when it comes to his dishes.

Every dish is beautifully hand-crafted and picture-perfect in every way. This extends to Morimoto’s mouth-watering sushi and sashimi dishes, which are light and fragrant.

Tom Colicchio’s Craftsteak

Meat-eaters unite – Tom Colicchio’s Craftsteak restaurant means business. The James Beard award-winning chef, Tom Colicchio, is a master of the grill, and his steakhouse in MGM Grand cuts the mustard. Colicchio is passionate about sourcing his meat from rural farms, as well as artisanal producers that put flavor at the heart of every dish.

Although his steaks are the show-stopper, there’s plenty of delicious fresh seafood to sample too, including fresh lobster and salmon. Craftsteak is also famed for its drinks menu, with a wine, bourbon and spirits list as long as your arm.
