When the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust came across little Humpty they knew they needed to act fast. Humpty is a baby hippo whose mother had abandoned her when she got stuck in a mud puddle.
She was left to die, but they weren't going to let that happen! They used a large net to help restrict her movements a bit so she couldn't hurt herself while they extracted her, and they made their way into the knee-deep mud.
Humpty was brought to the Sheldrick Trust HQ Rehabilitation Clinic in Kaluku where she will be taken care of until they can find somewhere for her to live.
She is now safe and happy and thankfully completely healthy!
