"Okay, so you're Brad Pitt. That don't impress me much. So you got the looks, but have you got the touch?"
When Shania Twain first released that song, people were stunned that she'd take a shot at Brad Pitt. I mean we all knew what she was saying. "Just because you're beautiful doesn't mean you know how to love me right," but it still felt wrong to say it out loud.
That Don't Impress Me Much became an anthem of the 90s for women everywhere, but targeting beloved Pitt was a bit taboo. Most girls probably wouldn't kick him out of bed for eating crackers, so it was a shock to hear Twain say that. Personally, I didn't sing the line just in case the movie star did come knocking.
Now, 20 years later, Shania Twain is making a comeback of epic proportions and she's finally answer the question we all wanted to know: WHAT DO YOU HAVE AGAINST BRAD PITT?
Twain, now 51 years old, was doing an interview with Billboard when the topic of her 1997 hit single came up, and we finally got an answer to our question.
What doesn't impress her about Pitt? His nude pictures.
"I remember I had a girlfriend visiting me and it was near Christmas and we were baking cookies," Twain told Billboard. "I was writing this album and there was a scandal of [Pitt] and Gwyneth [Paltrow] where there was naked photos of him. And this was like, all the rage. I just thought, "˜I don't know what all the fuss is about.' I'm like, well that don't impress me much, I mean what is all the fuss?"
After that, Twain decided to use her thoughts in the song she was writing, never really meaning to slight Brad Pitt at all.
"We see people naked every day," Twain continued. "That's really what I thought. I wasn't picking on Brad Pitt. But that was just the association in that moment and things we make fusses about and whatever. Of course, it could have been any gorgeous guy."
I can't say I disagree with her when she says the fuss is often blown out of proportion, but to say he doesn't impress you? C'mon, Shania (just kidding, you are the Queen of Country and know what you're talking about).
