Senior Cat Slept With Her Paws Over Her Eyes For One Heartbreaking Reason

Sweet Toni is a 13-year-old cat who lived a terrible life in the home of an animal hoarder. No one knows just how terrible her situation really was, but they can tell that she has had to fight to survive this long.

After years of suffering, this gentle-natured cat has finally found sanctuary in her own home with a very loving mama all to herself.

<amp-img src="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/980x-230.jpg" srcset="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/980x-230_GH_content_550px.jpg 550w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/980x-230_GH_content_650px.jpg 650w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/980x-230_GH_content_750px.jpg 750w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/980x-230_GH_content_850px.jpg 850w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/980x-230_GH_content_950px.jpg 950w" sizes="89vw" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>
Erin Weaver

Toni was rescued by a city shelter, but they soon realized that keeping her there would do more harm than good. She was covered with scratches - likely from other animals that lived in the hoarding house with her.

She never really relaxed and when she slept, it was with her paws over her eyes. Rescuers think that she was kept in a place where the lights were never turned off in her former house.

<amp-img src="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/980x-231.jpg" srcset="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/980x-231_GH_content_550px.jpg 550w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/980x-231_GH_content_650px.jpg 650w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/980x-231_GH_content_750px.jpg 750w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/980x-231_GH_content_850px.jpg 850w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/980x-231_GH_content_950px.jpg 950w" sizes="89vw" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>
Erin Weaver

Toni moved from the shelter to The Brooklyn Cat Cafe, but she was so stressed by the other cats, that she would hiss and run away whenever one came near.
