The Modern Family star is not shy to speak about her ongoing health issues.
From the moment Sarah Hyland was born, she had so many health problems that doctors told her mother that she "would never have a normal life."
The 27-year-old actress was born with kidney dysplasia, a condition where the kidneys don't develop properly in the womb.
After receiving a kidney transplant from her father about six years ago, we thought the worst was over.
Unfortunately, it wasn't, and she continued to fight other health problems she has encountered over the years.
Hyland hasn't expressed exactly what she's been dealing with, but we know that she suffers from chronic pain.
"I don't mind when you say that I look pregnant. Or fat. Because I know that my face is swollen from my medication that is saving my life," she once told her followers.
She has vented her frustration online several times. In March 2018, Hyland took to Twitter to criticize how her doctors never listen to her.
"For those who are chronically ill and in chronic pain: Have you had the experience of doctors not listening to you? If so, how do you not tear their heads off with your bare hands?"
Now, she has posted photos of her swollen face again, and things seem to be getting worse.
Did Hyland's dog help her to get treatment?
According to an Us Weekly insider, Hyland had been working on the comedy film The Wedding Year when she fell ill.
"Sometimes a selfie is more than just a good angle or feelin cute. This time for #NationalSelfieDay, I've decided to share my truth. As painful as it is," she posted on social media.
"So here is my face that was torn from work against my will. But I'm very grateful it was. Health should always come first."
She posted a second story on her social media profile, thanking her dog, Boo, for realizing something was wrong.
"Can't wait to come back to my precious angel princess. She's perfect and knows exactly what I need at all times," she wrote on a video with Boo.
"This was taken this past Sunday. Day before hospitalization. She was literally telling me to get treatment."
We wish you a speedy recovery, Sarah!
