Sandra Bullock is one of Hollywood's favorite stars. She has been loved since she first appeared on the big screen, and quickly became one of America's sweethearts thanks to her joyful demeanor and her classic roles.
But her life behind the scenes has always been like the romantic comedies she so often acts in. Her love life, like many celebrities, is often the focus of interviews. Back in 1996, she spoke about how hard it is to find the right person.
"For a year I was by myself trying to date and I'm telling you dating was the worst experience I ever had," she said. "I seem to have attracted everyone whose intentions were not the best. Just people who's intentions were so not in tune morally with mine. They were nice people but they just weren't suited for me and that's hard because I seriously thought I'm never ever going to find anybody that will love me and just enjoy life."
Even when she had found love, like with fellow actor Tate Donovan, it ended up falling apart. The two met on the set of Love Potion No. 9 and they dated until 1994. While Bullock never revealed what broke the two of them up, she admits that he definitely is an important part of her life.
"I adored Tate so much. It's like they say, there's one person in your life, and Tate and I are closer than any two people I've ever experienced in my life. There's nobody that means more to me, and I know for a fact that I mean the most to him, in that certain way. I can't explain why things worked out the way they did. We both know why it happened."
Bullock also dated actors like Matthew McConaughey and Ryan Gossling before marrying Monster Garage star Jesse James. Hollywood wrote them off as an odd couple, but Bullock always defended him saying "No one knows what someone is like based on appearance."
However, just days after her exciting Oscar win, everyone found out that James had been cheating on Bullock. The couple split, but shortly after Bullock revealed she had been in the process of adopting her son Louis.
So now that she was a single mother, she took time to focus on her child. In 2015 she adopted her daughter, Laila, and officially announced the addition to her family after having to hide it for so long.
"When you adopt a child, there's a placement period, and if something goes sideways, they have the right to take the child away. It's a tenuous, strenuous six months," Bullock explained, while saying that she had to hide her daughter from the paparazzi for half a year.
It was a stressful time for the family. "We had an allergy scare that sent us to the ER, and we were followed by the paparazzi, so the word was out that I had another child," Bullock said. "And everyone wanted photos. It was heartbreaking. Louis would hear a helicopter or drone, and he'd run to get his sister and drag her across the lawn and hide her under the trampoline. So poor Laila had PTSD. But it took the bounty off once we did those official photos. Everything's a learning experience."
But around the same time that Bullock was adopting Laila, she found a new boyfriend, one that seems to fit much better with her life.
Bryan Randall is a photographer, and he's actually the one who shot the official photos of Bullock with her two children when she announced Laila's adoption.
She has found such happiness with him, and her kids seem to love him too. "He's super kind. For the kids he's sort of No. 1 and I'm No. 2," she said to InStyle. "But I get it because he's more fun and has better treats."
Sources have said that the two are "soulmates" and that they "have built a great life together and the kids are the centerpiece."
It's nice to see that the superstar is happy and finally found someone with the same values as her. She deserves all of the joy and love she is getting!
