While he's been appearing on movie and TV screens since the 1960s, there's no denying that Sam Elliott's popularity is still climbing in his 70s.

He recently appeared in the latest remake of A Star is Born, and stars in The Ranch on Netflix.

And with all the attention he's been getting on screen, fans are learning more about Elliott's personal life too.

Not only does Elliott have a beautiful 30-year love story, he also has a grown-up daughter who's charting her own path in show business.

Hollywood Royalty

Elliott met and fell in love with actress Katharine Ross on the set of their movie The Legacy, but she actually caught his eyes years earlier.

Back when Elliott was only an extra, he was acting in the background of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, while Ross had the starring role.

"All I could do was just watch Katharine come and go," the actor remembered. "I never spoke to her. I never would even think to speak to her."

But on the set of The Legacy, the couple were finally able to make a connection, and they tied the knot just six years later.

Soon after, their only daughter Cleo Rose Elliott was born.

While Cleo seems to have enjoyed a happy life with her famous parents, and has shared many photos of herself with family pets, or riding horses, Ross says her relationship with Cleo was always difficult.

A Family Fight

Ross actually obtained a restraining order from her own daughter in 2011, after she said Cleo stabbed her in the arm with a pair of scissors.

In a court document, Ross wrote that her daughter "verbally and emotionally abused me even as a little girl but became increasingly violent at age 12 or 13."

In her 20s, Cleo's relationship with Ross obviously didn't improve. It's still unknown why, but Cleo reportedly shouted "I want to kill you" at her mother before attacking her.

After trying to call the police, Ross says Cleo cut the phone line with scissors before stabbing her arm six times.

Cleo was ordered to stay at least 100 years away from her mother, and not to contact her.

But it's obvious the pair have patched things up since then. They regularly appear together at red carpet events, and Cleo has nothing but love for her mother on social media.

Now older and wiser, Cleo is focusing on building a modeling career, but has dabbled in music too.

While she doesn't seem interested in acting, like her parents, Elliott is obviously proud of his beautiful daughter.

He called her "the love of my life" in an interview with AZ Central.

"My wife and I have been married for 33 years, and have been together 39 years. I have a deeply loving relationship with my daughter Cleo, who I see almost daily," he told the Washington Post.

That sounds like a happy family to us!
