It seems that Teen Mom is going to have a totally different look next season, and we're not just referring to Farrah Abraham's departure.
MTV has already announced that Bristol Palin will be replacing Farrah on the upcoming season of their hit reality show, but now two other cast members have revealed they'll be splitting as well.
Fans of Teen Mom will know that last season, Maci Bookout's ex-fiancee, Ryan Edwards, ran into some trouble with the law after being caught with heroin. Before that, he was filmed driving while under the influence.
Ryan was driving on the way to his wedding with his bride-to-be, Mackenzie, completely high out of his mind. The clip aired on Teen Mom, and MTV faced extreme backlash for airing the scene.
"Did you take Xanax again?" Mackenzie was heard asking.
"Um, I don't ... I don't have any," he responded with a mumble.
"You did," she replied.
Ryan ended up revealing after the episode aired that he had, in fact, checked into rehab. Admitted that Ryan had been dealing with a $10,000-a-week heroin addiction.
But even though it's likely the money for rehab was coming from his involvement on Teen Mom, Ryan and Mackenzie have decided to walk away from the show.
Mackenzie spoke to E! News about the couple's departure:
We're not returning to Teen Mom this season. The network told us they don't want to show Ryan as a recovering addict. But they did want to enter a contract with our unborn baby and have the baby film with Ryan's parents so it would look like someone else is raising it.The show had been paying for my healthcare and for the baby so they could film the visits and then a week ago they let me know that would no longer be the case. They're not going to film the birth. We're not going to be on at all.
Maci can't speak to Ryan and Ryan can't speak to Maci "“ that was a mutual decision. But she doesn't know what's going on in our lives.
I know they did want five girls to begin with after Farrah [Abraham] left to sort of resemble Teen Mom 2. But they didn't want to see another recovering addict storyline. So they're writing us out of the show right now and making it seem like we dipped out on our baby, on Bentley and on everyone. And that's just not the case."
Ryan also posted about their departure on Instagram.
I will never stop speaking out against this horrible disease! It consumes your life and turns you into someone even you don't know. I'm asking you to never give up.
Each day is a struggle. I've made mistakes and I have really messed up in the past but there is so much hope ahead and it doesn't mean I can't change the future. If you or someone you know needs help, please don't hesitate to go SAMHSA.gov.
Help is out there.
[D]on't take everything you see on MTV as factual truth. They don't want to show me or Mack in a happy light or that I am active in my recovery.
I AM.
They want me to look angry, passive aggressive and uncaring regarding things that mean the most to me. I'm done taking their shit and letting the world believe this by standing up for myself.
You're believing a lie. And soon... very very soon, you WILL see the TRUTH behind the LIAR.
He also spoke with E! News about his sobriety.
"They also want to take Maci's word on how I'm doing," Ryan said. "Maci's said she's not going to film unless I enter rehab again and quit the show. But I'm sober."
Neither Maci nor MTV have commented on Ryan and Mackenzie's departure.
The Arrest
Despite Ryan claiming he's got a clear head, he found himself in trouble with the law just days later. The 30-year-old father was arrested on "previous charges or other reasons," and according to Us Weekly, the inmate information system listed the charge as possession of a controlled substance. No bond was set.
At the end of March, Ryan was arrested for violating probation on a heroin possession charge he had been arrested for one year prior.
