What did you get your mom for Christmas this year? I felt pretty good when I bought mine tickets to a show she wanted to see. They were pretty pricey, but I knew that they would make her happy. But then I saw what Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson bought his mom, and even though I know he's a celebrity, I felt pretty lame about the gift I bought!
Johnson posted the video on Instagram a few days after Christmas, which showed his mom opening up a gift from him. In the caption, he explained that he bought his mom, Ata, a house!
This one felt good. Surprise! Bought my mom a new home for Christmas. All our lives growing up we lived in little apartments all across the country. Lived like gypsies on the road from one state to another.
The first home my parents ever lived in was the one I bought for them in 1999. They divorced about 5yrs later and as with life, stuff happens and things got a little complicated. Since then I always made sure my mom and dad have everything they'll ever need - houses, cars etc.
But the house this time is a special one and the timing is very meaningful. I told her to treat this card like it's "Willy Wonka's Golden Ticket" because she gets to choose any home she wants - anywhere she wants.
I always say, if you got a good mama, then you gotta pretty good shot at becoming a decent human being. And somehow, somewhere along the line I became one lucky SOB to be able to make stuff like this happen.
Merry Christmas Ma and WOOOHOOO enjoy your new home.

In the video, you can see Ata getting emotional and crying tears of joy as she reads the card from her son.
"Guess what?" she says to her granddaughter Jasmine, 3. "I get a brand-new house!"
How amazing is that?! Johnson's "Golden Ticket" idea is too cute, and I'm sure his mom is going to love checking out a bunch of homes over the next little while.
Johnson has been open about his family's struggles when he was growing up, saying at one point they couldn't even afford to buy a turkey for Thanksgiving.
"[We were] so piss broke, that we couldn't even afford to buy a turkey," he admitted. "We were praying someone would invite us over for Thanksgiving."
Now that he's a celebrity, worth over $280 million, Johnson does what he can to give back not only to his family, but also to his community.
