In the past two months, many popular products have been recalled amid health concerns.
One that got a lot of attention was McDonald's salad. More than a hundred people across America contracted an intestinal parasite, known as cyclosporiasis, that left them in the hospital.
Earlier this month, Del Monte's vegetable-dip trays were also recalled after 200 people contracted that very same intestinal parasite.
Last week, Kellogg's made an urgent nationwide recall for their Honey Smacks Cereal, after claiming they had a major Salmonella outbreak.
And it's not only food products that are pulling back their products.
This month, the FDA announced Major Pharmaceuticals, Solco Healthcare, and Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Inc. recalled their pills for heart failure and high blood pressure after finding a defect known to cause cancer.
Now the latest health concern is with another popular snack brand, and people are getting worried...
All across the U.S., Ritz cracker products are being taken off the shelves over salmonella concerns.
On July 21, the makers of the products, Mondolez Global LLC, announced that there have been no illnesses reported yet, but are recalling their products as a precaution.
The company speculates that the whey powder they use may have been in the "potential presence of salmonella."
"Consumers who have these products should not eat them, and should discard any products they may have," the statement on their website said.
Here are all the products included in the recall:
- Ritz Bits Cheese (in various packaging)
- Ritz Cheese Cracker Sandwiches
- Ritz Bacon Cracker Sandwiches with Cheese
- Ritz Whole Wheat Cracker Sandwiches with White Cheddar Cheese
- Ritz Everything Cracker Sandwiches with Cream Cheese
- Mixed Cookie Cracker Variety
