Country star Gretchen Wilson, who rose to fame after her debut single "Redneck Woman" reached the top of the charts, has recently made a comeback after stepping away from the spotlight to focus on her family and mental health.
Over the last year, the Grammy-winning entertainer has been in the headlines after releasing her first album in four years, Ready to Get Rowdy, and announced her nationwide tour.
"I knew I needed the first single to be reminiscent of what fans liked and remembered about me and hopefully still want to hear," Wilson told Taste of Country in 2017. "I'd been writing for quite a while, but I hadn't gotten that feeling out of a song yet and the words 'ready to get rowdy' just kept going through my head. Finally, I thought to myself, 'Why are you coming back? What do you really want to say?' So I had to answer that question and it was like, 'because I'm ready! I've been off for a few years, I've done what I needed to do at home and it's time. I'm ready to get rowdy.'"
Well, Wilson wasn't kidding when she said she was "ready to get rowdy," and not just on stage either.
The 45-year-old was slated to perform a private concert at Mohegan Sun casino in Uncasville, Connecticut, on August 22, but things got off to a rocky start when she was arrested the night before.
According to celebrity news website TMZ, Wilson was cited for second-degree breach of peace at the Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, CT after she got into a scuffle with a fellow passenger in the airplane bathroom.
Despite being asked to stop, the feud reportedly continued throughout the 80-minute flight during which the artist and the passenger exchanged "threatening hand gestures."
When they got off the plane, Wilson was greeted by police and was taken into custody after she demanded to be arrested.
"While interviewing the accused on the jetway, she [Wilson] became belligerent toward the troopers and caused a disturbance," read the police report.
Wilson's bail has been set for $1,000, and although she was scheduled to appear in court on August 23, WFSB reported that the date has been moved up to sometime in September. It's unclear if this will affect The Workin' Women tour, which begins next month.
This isn't the first time that the "One of the Boys" singer has caused a disturbance while flying. Back in October 2007, Wilson was given an in-flight citation after she swore at American Airlines flight attendants, according to TMZ. Wilson became agitated after the crew members asked her to put her dog back into its traveling case.
Hopefully Wilson will be able to stay out of trouble from now on for the sake of her fans, who are getting ready to see her perform live in just a few weeks.
