Are you SICK of boring recipes? Well have we got the solution for you! It's just what the Doctor ordered! These scrumdiddlyumptious Dr Pepper Meatballs are a sure way to cure any dinner time blues!
Ingredients
For the meatballs:
1 pound ground beef
½ cup breadcrumbs
1 egg, lightly whisked
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon paprika
Kosher salt
Freshly cracked black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
For the sauce:
2 cups ketchup
2 cans Dr Pepper
2 tablespoons tomato paste
½ cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Kosher salt
Freshly cracked black pepper
Parsley, for garnish
Directions
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until well-mixed. Shape into balls about 2 tablespoons each.
2. In a medium measuring cup or bowl, whisk together the ketchup, Dr Pepper, tomato paste, brown sugar, Worcestershire, apple cider vinegar, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
3. Place a large pan over medium heat, heating up the olive oil. Place the meatballs in a single layer to brown all the sides (work in batches if need be). Once all meatballs have been browned (put any that were removed to brown another batch back into the pan), pour in the prepared sauce and bring up to a simmer.
4. Simmer about 10 minutes, occasionally using a spoon to coat the meatballs with sauce. Once the sauce has reduced to half and the meatballs are fully cooked, remove from heat.
Serve garnished with parsley and any sauce left in the pan for extra dipping. Enjoy!
