For plenty of people (myself included), watching the Real Housewives is definitely a guilty pleasure.
The trials and tribulations of some of the richest women in the country might not sound appealing at first, but is definitely entertaining, especially where drama is concerned.
Luann de Lesseps has been a big name on the show since the New York edition of the series began, and it seems like her spectacles won't be coming to an end anytime soon.
Last December, de Lesseps was arrested in Palm Beach on charges of battery on an officer, disorderly intoxication, resisting arrest with violence, and crimes against a person.
De Lesseps eventually pleaded guilty to a lesser misdemeanor charge and checked herself into an alcohol treatment center, which she said has aided her on her recovery.
"I feel so much better. And I feel like when you feel good about yourself, it comes shining through," she told The Daily Dish. "There's a big change in my life in terms of being in control, being in power, being in the driver's seat, and I feel like with the drinking, I definitely was not in the driver's seat."
While de Lesseps managed to stay out of the limelight for the past few months, she's caught the media's attention yet again after being sued by her own children.
The Lawsuit
The reality star is facing a lawsuit from her ex-husband Alexandre de Lesseps, her daughter, Victoria de Lesseps, and son, Noel de Lesseps, over claims that the former countess had breached a stipulation of her 2009 divorce.
According to documents obtained by The Blast, de Lesseps had failed to create a trust "for the benefit of her two children." Alexandre had given his ex-wife the deed to their Bridgehampton, New York home, who in return agreed to the trust.
For de Lesseps part, she was required to "fund the trust with an undivided one-half interest in and to the Marital Residence," which allegedly has never happened.
"This action arises from Defendant's breach of a Stipulation of Settlement and related Judgment of Divorce by her failure to create a trust for the benefit of her children, her conversion of the trust's corpus and her present threat to abscond with money derived from the potential sale of the trust corpus and use it to purchase, for herself alone, a luxury home in upstate New York," the documents read.
The trio claim that instead of creating the trust for her adult children, she sold the home in November 2014 for $8 million, and used the cash to purchase a nearby home in Southampton, New York for $3.1 million.
The documents in the former couple's settlement stated that if she were to sell to sell the house and purchase another one, her children would become half of the owners of her new property.
"The entire net proceeds of the sale may at any time prior to the termination of the Trust, be reinvested by [Luann] to purchase another residence, provided that the children shall continue to be the owners, in Trust, of an undivided one-half interest in said property," it said.
Now, it's being claimed that de Lesseps has threatened to sell her current residence "for more than fifty percent its present value and leave Suffolk County with the proceeds ... so that she may purchase, for herself alone, a luxury home in upstate New York."
The lawsuit has shocked fans as de Lesseps shared a snapshot of herself spending the Fourth of July with her ex-husband, and added their two children were also there.
The trio are now asking a judge to force de Lesseps to abide by her divorce settlement, and prohibit her from selling the property in question.
