It's hard to believe the royal wedding is almost here.
After all the anticipation, waiting, and planning, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are finally ready to tie the knot.
The public has eagerly followed every detail of the couple's whirlwind romance.
But that has also sparked some curiosity. Namely, Harry's fans are wondering who was the object of his desire before he met Suits star Meghan Markle.
It turns out the prince has made a few love connections, and some of his failed romances were very serious.
Chelsy Davy
2004-2011 (on and off)
The prince's first serious girlfriend was also his longest-lasting relationship.
Davy, the daughter of a wealthy Zimbabwean landowner and a beauty queen, met Harry during his gap year at school.
The couple separated over the years, including when Davy returned to Africa for her education, but they always got back together eventually.
Davy even picked Leeds University for law school so she could stay close to the prince.
There were wedding rumors about the couple once, but they've been officially split up since 2011.
Davy admitted that the life of a princess was not her cup of tea, saying the attention she received from photographers was "crazy and scary and uncomfortable."
"I found it very difficult when it was bad," she remembered. "I couldn't cope."
Despite the split, Davy says she will "always remain friends" with Harry.
Caroline Flack
2009
The X Factor presenter and model discussed her short-lived fling with Harry in her memoir, Storm in a C Cup.
She revealed that the prince dated her in 2009, during one of his splits from Davy.
The relationship eventually fell apart after it became public knowledge, and Flack admitted to resenting the way she was covered in the press.
"Once the story got out, that was it. We had to stop seeing each other," she wrote.
"I was no longer Caroline Flack, TV presenter, I was Caroline Flack, Prince Harry's bit of rough."
Camilla Romestrand
2010
Harry's relationship with the Norwegian singer was another one of his short flings.
The couple were reportedly so close that she enjoyed breakfast in bed at his royal residence, Clarence House.
But the connection obviously wasn't very serious, because it was never publicly confirmed by Harry.
Florence Brudenell
2011
The prince was spotted visiting the French actress and model's home in London.
They might have made an ideal match, because Brudenell is the daughter of a marquess.
But just as Harry returned to helicopter training, the couple stopped being seen in public together.
Kensington Palace never confirmed the relationship publicly, saying in a statement "we don't comment on the prince's personal life."
Today, Brudenell is married to millionaire Henry Edward Hugh St. George, but is reportedly still friendly with Harry.
Mollie King
2012
King is a member of the British girl group The Saturdays.
After being reportedly introduced to Harry by his cousin, Zara Tindall, she dated him for some time.
But sources say the prince split from King because she was too quick to talk about their relationship.
"Harry likes discreet girls and Mollie seems to be enjoying the publicity a bit too much," a source told MailOnline.
Cressida Bonas
2012-14
Harry's relationship with actress Cressida Bonas was his longest since his split from Davy.
Not only is Bonas a movie star, she's also the granddaughter of an earl, so she traveled in the same social circles as Harry.
The couple met through Harry's cousin, Princess Eugenie, and stayed together for two years.
During that time they were spotted everywhere together, including at rugby matches, music festivals, and even playing strip billiards in his Las Vegas hotel room.
Bonas was also rumored to be engaged to Harry, but later dismissed those stories as "noise."
In fact, she admitted to feeling "pigeonholed" while dating Harry, and called the experience "incredibly frustrating."
Bonas may have even taken a jab at Harry on social media following news of his engagement to Markle.
Shortly after the story broke, Bonas shared a poem on Instagram:
No matter how educated, talented, rich or cool you believe you are, how you treat people ultimately tells it all.
Ellie Goulding
2016
The pop singer was Harry's last rumored romantic connection before his engagement to Markle.
Less than a month before Harry was said to have met his fiance, he was spotted kissing and snuggling under a blanket with Goulding.
It seems like it was only a one-time connection, but Goulding has known the prince for years.
She performed at his brother's wedding, and also at the 2014 Invictus Games, which is Harry's signature charity.
Did you know about any of the prince's former flames?
