Sometimes we forget that the royal family is still just a regular family. Not necessarily regular in the sense that you'll see them out doing groceries, but those kids are still just kids.
Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and I'm sure Prince Louis in due time, have all been in the media spotlight since they were born. Everyone wants to criticize every action, wardrobe choice, and behavior as though it holds the key to world peace.
But new images that surfaced of Prince George have people even more upset than usual, and this time they might have a legitimate case.
Prince William was playing in a charity game of polo, so Kate Middleton took George and Charlotte to go watch. The prince and princess were having fun playing with all the other kids, and George even had toys to play with.
However, the choice of toys is what got people talking. George was photographed playing with a toy gun, and also apparently had a toy knife and handcuffs with him. At one point, George pointed the gun at mom Kate's face.
Of course, George's father and uncle both served in the military, and it's widely known that the young prince has a fascination with the police, but watching George play with a toy gun made a lot of people uneasy.
"It's not a joke some people lose their lives because their children thought they played with a toy and it was a real gun!!" Twitter user Juliette said.
"This isn't okay anymore... My American side here, biased maybe b/c of everyday #gunviolence in USA,but my British side agrees. No child in this day and age should look at any gun as a fun toy. This looks far too real. .(And I LOVE Prince George, don't get me wrong!)" Daisy Torme echoed.
"Sad to see George playing with a gun when the whole country has a gun/knife crime situation," Adrina Price pointed out.
"Better if he was seen playing with a toy car or football. Sadly the royals will never change."
"Kate alone shouldn't be blamed about this as we don't know who owns the toys, but someone should have said that this is not OK."
Other people didn't get the big deal.
"People are outraged over a kid being a kid, suprise surprise. Get a life people who get upset over this ALL kids play "guns" no matter HOW HARD you make them not play with them they will," Rick Chartrand said.
"Even if I took all my boy's play guns away doesn't matter what it is even a stick morphs into a gun and away he goes pretending" Bridget said.
"Good Lord, leave him alone, he is a child. Let him play!!! People obviously have too much time on there hands and have to stick their nose in everyone's business. That is what is wrong with this world," Kimberley added.
