This past spring, the biggest newsmaker was Prince Harry's wedding to Meghan Markle. All anyone could talk about was what she would be wearing, whether her dad would show up, whether Harry would honor his mother in the ceremony, and overall what the event would be like.
It ended up being something out of a beautiful story book, and it was great to see the bride and groom so happy on their big day.
Right after the wedding, people started wondering when they would start a family. Meghan is 37 years old, and while women are having children later in life, it still puts a bit of a clock on things.
Then in October, six months after their wedding, Harry and Meghan announced they were expecting their first child. Obviously it was too soon to announce a gender, but Harry made headlines when he admitted he had a preference.
In an Instagram post that has since gone viral, a fan shouted at Harry, "I hope it's a girl!"
His response?
"So do I!"
The baby isn't due until spring 2019, but you can guarantee people will be talking about potential baby names at the same rate they talked about the wedding. Even the grandfather-to-be, Prince Charles, was joining in on the fun. While on a visit to Australia House, Charles revealed there are a few names potentially in the front-running.
"Incidentally ladies and gentlemen, my son Harry tells me that during their recent tour of Australia, he and his wife were offered countless thoughtful suggestions for the naming of their forthcoming baby," Charles said, according to Hello! Magazine. "Just between us, I suspect that Kylie and Shane may possibly make the shortlist."
"But ladies and gentlemen, I would not hold your breath for Edna or Les," he joked.
Harry also hinted at some name possibilities while talking with a woman named Jessica on a royal tour, though it sounds more like he was just being polite.
"As soon as I introduced my daughter to Harry, he said, 'That's a great name.'" Jessica said, according to British press reports. "Maybe they will choose it for their own child, which would be fun."
There are already odds on what Harry and Meghan's bundle of joy will be called, too. Depending on who you talk to, there are different odds, but these are considered the most common.
If the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have a girl, odds say "Victoria" is at the top of the name heap at 8/1 odds, with "Alice" coming next at 12/1. Third spot is held by "Elizabeth," at 16/1 odds.
"Alexander" comes in at 7/1 if it's a boy. The names "Arthur" and "Philip" are tied at 8/1 odds in second place. "Albert" isn't far behind at 10/1 after that. This would be in honour of Queen Victoria's husband. "Charles" is one of the longer shots, with odds of 16/1.
No matter what Harry and Meghan choose, I think it's safe to say that it will be something that strays a little from the norm.
