When it comes to pregnancy, every woman's experience to unique. For some, the nine months are a breeze, but for others, like Amy Schumer, they are filled with complications.
The stand-up comedian and actress, who announced last month that she and her husband Chris Fischer are expecting their first child, has been struggling with her pregnancy and recently experienced a medical emergency.
The I Feel Pretty star was experiencing severe nausea and needed to be hospitalized.
She took to social media to apologize to her fans for cancelling her Texas tour stop and reveal that she is suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, a form extreme morning sickness that causes severe nausea and vomiting during the first couple of weeks of pregnancy.
The debilitating condition begins within the first six weeks of pregnancy, and is the same issue that Kate Middleton experienced during all three of her pregnancies. It could last for weeks or months and often leads to dehydration and fatigue, making it impossible to carry out the simplest everyday tasks, according to Healthline.
In Schumer's case, the illness has continued through her second trimester and it's making it very difficult for her to keep working.
"Texas I am so deeply sorry. I have been really looking forward to these shows. I have to reschedule," Schumer wrote in the caption of a photo of herself at the hospital.
She reassured fans that both she and the baby are doing "fine" before adding that "everyone who says the 2nd trimester is better is not telling the full story."
"I've been even more ill this trimester," she continued. "I have hyperemesis and it blows," she admitted. "Very lucky to be pregnant but this is some bulls"”! Sending so much love to the doctors and nurses taking great care of me and [my dog] Tati! They are cool as hell! And Texas I am really really sorry and I'll be out there as soon as I'm better."
The funnywoman has been very candid about the changes to her body as she prepares to become a mother.
Last week, she posted a photo from an event she attended in New York City and captioned it: "Thanks to my body for not puking most nights from 7-10!"
She also previously shared a photo of herself next to a open toilet, and jokingly compared her pregnancy to that of Meghan Markle's.
"Markle is in [Fiji] today and #same,MILF alert," she jokingly wrote in the caption, referring to her morning sickness.
We're glad Schumer is doing fine, and is sharing her pregnancy trials and tribulations so other women in similar circumstances can know they aren't alone.
