While Christmas brings out the best in most people, for others it's a time when there is more opportunity to do wrong.

The Red Bluff Police Department had an unfortunate incident that thankfully had a happy ending for children in need.

Red Bluff Police Department employs some of the finest sworn and civilian staff in law enforcement today, according to their website. "Men and women who serve our community with pride and integrity each and every day.  These personnel are devoted public servants who constantly strive to make Red Bluff a great place to live."

They recently received a call from staff at Children First FFA regarding a burglary that occurred sometime during the night before. Children First Foster Family Agency was originally created to meet the needs of children in foster care.  After several years, the mission was expanded to include the counseling of children and adults. Today, we have programs and services for children that include foster care, counseling, and programs that give children a chance to excel.

A large amount of toys that were Christmas presents for foster children were being held there and these gifts had been taken.

After reviewing surveillance the officer established the suspects were coming and going from the residence next door. Officers located the subjects inside that matched video surveillance.

Joseph Betancourt 24, of Woodland was booked into the Tehama County Jail for 459 PC, 182(a) PC, and 602(m) PC.

Marie Bennett 40, of Woodland was booked into the Tehama County Jail for 459 PC, 182(a) PC, and 602(m) PC.

Both subjects were arrested and taken to the Tehama County Jail. They had made off with quite a few of the gifts that were donated for children.

Thanks to the wonderful Red Bluff Police Department, these "Grinches" will not be stealing Christmas from the kids after all!
