'Old Man' From "Pawn Stars" Dead At 77

One of the most popular members of the Pawn Stars family, Richard Harrison, passed away in the morning of June 25.

Harrison, who went by the nickname 'Old Man' was 77 years old. He leaves behind his wife, Joanne, and his three sons, Joseph, Chris, and Rick.

Gold & Silver Pawn, the shop where Richard and his son Rick became famous, released a statement on Old Man's passing.

It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of Richard Benjamin Harrison (known as "˜The Old Man' to Pawn Stars fans the world over) this morning. He was surrounded by loving family this past weekend and went peacefully.
The team at Gold & Silver Pawn and the Pawn Stars family is grieving his loss. He will be remembered as the best father, grandfather and great-grandfather you could have by his family and by fans as the sometimes grumpy (always loving, however), often wisecracking, and voice of absolute reason on the History television show "˜Pawn Stars'.
Services are pending and the family appreciates your prayers and kind words.

Rick also shared a statement with Fox News on the passing of his father.

Richard Benjamin "˜The Old Man' Harrison passed away this morning surrounded by those he loved. He will be tremendously missed by our family, the team at Gold & Silver Pawn and his many fans the world over.
He was my hero and I was fortunate to get a very cool "˜Old Man' as my dad. That I got to share him with so many others and they got to see what a great family man he was is something I am grateful to have experienced with him.
He lived a very full life and through the History television show "˜Pawn Stars' touched the lives of people all over teaching them the value of loving your family, hard work and humor. We appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers and ask that we are provided some privacy at this time.

Richard, a Navy veteran, appeared on Pawn Stars over the course of nine seasons, often providing wisdom and impeccable comedic timing. He helped open the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in the early '80s with Rick, and the pair never looked back.

Today I lost a friend, a father, a teacher and so much more. The Old Man lost his long battle with Parkinson's this morning. Love you Dad. See you on the other side

Richard had been noticeably absent from more recent episodes of Pawn Stars, but nothing was ever mentioned about an illness or other possible explanation for his disappearance.

Corey Harrison, Richard's grandson, also reflected on his amazing life.

I was lucky enough to spend 15 years of my life working with the old man. He wasn't just a grandfather, he was truly a best friend as well. I'm truly blessed to have had him as a mentor. He will be missed everyday at this time we thank you for all of the kind words and we ask for privacy as we mourn his passing.

Chumlee, another member of the Pawn Stars family, credits Richard for many life lessons.

It's hard to believe he is gone. He was such a big part of my life and treated me like family. I will miss him greatly and carry the lessons he taught me throughout my life. You could always count on him to straighten you out or make you laugh and both of those things I need every day. . Currently, there has been no cause of death publicized.
