One couple in Ohio is facing some serious charges after sending a picture to their family.
And no, it wasn't an unexpected pregnancy picture.
Micah Risner and his girlfriend, Nataleigh Schlette have both been charged with inducing panic after sending a staged murder scene picture to friends and family as a "prank."
The couple used ketchup to make it look like Micah murdered his fiancee in the bathtub. Micah then messaged his sister Mimi to see what her reaction would be.
Lucky for Micah, he seems to have a great sister in Mimi, because she agreed to help cover up the murder.
Unfortunately for Micah, Mom wasn't as on board with this whole "get away with murder" plan. She called the police and they showed up at the house.
"She (Schlette) got into the bathtub, and they put ketchup all over to make it look like he murdered her," Sandusky police Sgt. Dawn Allen said. "He started sending the picture and texting that he did it."
The police took the call very seriously, not knowing what the real situation was.
"You don't know what you are going to encounter going into a situation like that. That could have been very bad for them or you know, if there was a suspect in there and they came out shooting or with a knife to stab them or whatever the case may be. There are all kinds of scenarios that are running though the officers minds as this is playing out," Sandusky Police Chief John Orzech said.
Both Micah and Nataleigh were arrested for inducing panic, and could face up to 6 months in jail and a fine of $1,000.
Micah says the whole thing was a prank, but he sounds a little bitter that his mom turned him in.
"The real me knows I could never hurt a woman," Micah posted. "My mother didn't even try to call me or anything. She went straight to the cops."
After confessing to committing murder (even though it was a prank) can you really blame her?
