She went against the hospital regulations so she could give a man his dying wish and have a "dignified" death.

Carsten Flemming Hansen was 75 and arrived at the hospital after suffering from an aortic aneurysm and internal bleeding. The doctors suspected that he only had a few more hours to live so they decided to avoid the unnecessary surgery.

His nurse, Rikke Kvist, said that his relatives were there with him and were of course upset that he was dying but apparently "It was a very cozy and relaxed atmosphere."

<amp-img src="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/17349787_1526416374048703_1972038954283018491_o.jpg" srcset="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/17349787_1526416374048703_1972038954283018491_o_GH_content_550px.jpg 550w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/17349787_1526416374048703_1972038954283018491_o_GH_content_650px.jpg 650w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/17349787_1526416374048703_1972038954283018491_o_GH_content_750px.jpg 750w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/17349787_1526416374048703_1972038954283018491_o_GH_content_850px.jpg 850w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/17349787_1526416374048703_1972038954283018491_o_GH_content_950px.jpg 950w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/17349787_1526416374048703_1972038954283018491_o_GH_content_1050px.jpg 1050w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/17349787_1526416374048703_1972038954283018491_o_GH_content_1150px.jpg 1150w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/17349787_1526416374048703_1972038954283018491_o_GH_content_1250px.jpg 1250w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/17349787_1526416374048703_1972038954283018491_o_GH_content_1350px.jpg 1350w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/17349787_1526416374048703_1972038954283018491_o_GH_content_1450px.jpg 1450w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/17349787_1526416374048703_1972038954283018491_o_GH_content_1550px.jpg 1550w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/17349787_1526416374048703_1972038954283018491_o_GH_content_1630px.jpg 1630w" sizes="89vw" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

Hansen had one request before he passed away, and even though it was strictly against policy the nurses decided to let him have what he wanted. All he asked for was a Green LA cigarette and a glass of cold white wine while he spent time with his family. The medical staff knew that smoking wasn't allowed on hospital property, but decided to find a way to make it happen.

They wheeled his hospital bed out onto a balcony and let him have his last cigarette and his glass of wine.
