As an A-list celebrity, the intimate details of Nicole Kidman's personal life have been on full display for 35 years.
Although the the Academy Award-winning actress has had a steady working career and a wonderful home life with her husband Keith Urban and their two daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, her past wasn't as easy.
From 1990 to 2001, Kidman was married to Tom Cruise and had adopted two children, Connor and Isabella.
While the family were often seen together while the former couple were still together, the Big Little Lies star became estranged from her oldest kids following their divorce.
Isabella and Connor made the decision to live with their father and were raised in the Church of Scientology, leaving them with a broken relationship.
"They're both focusing on moving forward with their relationship."
Even though Kidman (and Cruise) was absent from Isabella's 2015 nuptials to husband Max Parker, a source told PEOPLE that the mother-of-four was "very happy for Bella. She, like all mothers, wants her child to be happy, and it surely seems Bella is very happy.
However, it seems that the pair's estrangement had ended when Isabella launched her clothing line named BKC (an acronym for Bella Kidman Cruise), giving a nod to her mother's last name.
"Bella and Nicole have really grown closer over the past few months. They're both focusing on moving forward with their relationship," a family friend told Radar Online.
In 2013, Kidman had refused to discuss Scientology, despite claims that the church forced her kids to turn against her.
"I've chosen not to speak publicly about Scientology. I have two children who are Scientologists "“ Connor and Isabella "“ and I utterly respect their beliefs," she told The Hollywood Reporter.
But, Kidman seems to have had a change of heart and is finally speaking out on her relationship with them and their choice of following the controversial religion.
"They are adults. They are able to make their own decisions."
Kidman recently opened up about her relationship with her Connor and Isabella, and their affiliation with the popularly dubbed "cult."
"I'm very private about all that," she said in an interview with Australia's Who magazine. "I have to protect all those relationships. I know 150% that I would give up my life for my children because it's what my purpose is."
"They are adults. They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it's my job to love them."
Her acceptance of her children's religion mirrors her latest film, Boy Erased, where she plays a mother struggling with her son's sexual orientation as he's sent to conversion therapy.
"I am an example of that tolerance and that's what I believe"”that no matter what your child does, the child has love and the child has to know there is available love and I'm open here," she told the publication.
"I think that's so important because if that is taken away from a child, to sever that in any child, in any relationship, in any family"”I believe it's wrong. So that's our job as a parent, to always offer unconditional love."
And luckily her love has been returned.
"I love my mom," Connor said in 2014. "I don't care what people say, I know that me and Mum are solid. I love her a lot. My family means everything. Yeah, I love my music, but the family comes before everything else."
