If you are a food fan or just like trying new things, we will show you the new food trends that are on everyone's lips lately and that are expanding without flavor barriers. Let’s go!
Tonkatsu (豚カツ)
If you are a pork lover, you will like this. These are Japanese Fried Pork Cutlets. Katsu is usually served with rice and cabbage salad. The Japanese accompanied it with some shots of the traditional Sake, although you can try it as you like.
If you want to prepare Tonkatsu at home, it's super easy. You only need:
- Filleted pieces of pork
- Salt & Pepper
- Panko breadcrumbs
- 1 egg- Flour
- Oil for frying
- Cabbage for salad
- Rice
You will not stop eating this tendentious recipe. If for some reason you don't like pork, you can make chicken katsu instead, which is also a common dish in Japan. If you are a lover of tempura, Teriyaki, Sashimi, or Sushi, you will go crazy as there is much more traditional Japanese food to discover.
Taiwanese Fare
You may have heard of Taiwanese Bubble Tea. Although it is not the only variety of Taiwanese trend, these ones are taking over. Residents of the largest and multicultural cities know what we are talking about.
Some examples of these dishes of Taiwanese origin are fly's head, drunken chicken, beef, noodles often spiced with fragrant anise, and the famous "stinky" tofu.
Fly's head is prepared with ground pork, garlic chive, chili, and black fermented beans. Moreover, stinky tofu is very popular in Taiwan. Many people love this dish although, we must say, it also has certain criticisms, you can imagine why. They say the smell is similar to the strongest of blue cheese, or, to dirty socks. The deep-fried version generally has the most pungent aroma. If you are not afraid of the most intense aromas of meals, then this may be one of your favorites.
Food from the "Stans"
The food of this whole region is gaining increasing popularity. People from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and other countries that end with "Stans" brought their culinary traditions along with them.
Not to be confused with Turkish food, as used to be thought before, now the food of the "Stans" has a whole identity of Eurasian flavors and there is still much to discover.
The way to season food is unique. We can name some species as:
- Parsley
- Spinach
- Chive
- Garlic
- Dill
- Tarragon
- Coriander
While these may sound familiar, finding places where they serve this type of traditional food is totally different, such as meat, eggplant, beans, and even noodles.
Something very traditional that you can try in the New Year is the delicious Kazakh Beef Soup.
Chinese Hot Pot Eateries
The best choice of Chinese food for this season has to be Szechuan Chinese food. It’s a great way to share something different with your friends, and family.
Many Hot Pot restaurants opened throughout these years in all countries and regions due to growing demand.
If you like to share food in a different way than the western one, eating meat, vegetables, and tofu inside a bubbly, seething hotpot, you may try this. Once the ingredients are cooked, you can add garlic and a sesame oil sauce for a better experience of complex and impactful flavors. It is also one of the best options for the cold season.
Personalized Meals
This "food as fuel" methodology may seem a bit intriguing at first.
One of the trends of this year is that more and more people send a blood sample to get their DNA information and, according to the results and this collected data, people receive a personalized diet.
There are several companies that offer this type of super-personalized service, including one of the best known “Habit”. In this case, you will have to ingest a special drink before doing the tests.
When you send your samples to these companies, you just have to wait for the results that will tell you what exactly you have to eat.
Some people have a range-foods diet and feel strong and healthy; others should be more focused on the type of food they eat.
Some people are advised to eat more fibers and others more fat as an energy source. It is a very particular and fascinating way of eating, based on what science says about you.
Maybe you are into the college football rankings or you are just a fitness practitioner that has a want to level up your aptitudes and abilities. If so you may consider trying this.
Summarizing
In general, when it comes to enjoying and trying new food trends, we should not be left behind. It is not bad to learn a little foreign culture and share good times experiencing new things.
