Take a moment to think about what you did for fun when you were a kid.
Nature Valley recently released an ad that sheds some light on how kids choose to play now versus three generations ago. The results are concerning for any parent.
In the video, Nature Valley interviews three different groups of people: the elderly, the middle-aged, and school-aged children. Each person is asked the same question: When you were a kid, what did you do for fun?
All the adults smile and begin telling their stories of their outdoor adventures. Some went blueberry picking, gardening, fishing, playing sports, and building forts. Today's kids have a very different answer.
They all said they use some sort of technology for fun, including playing video games, texting on their smartphones, or scrolling on their tablet. And how much time do they spend each day doing those things? One girl says: "Three to four hours," while one boy claims he uses his tablet for "five hours straight."
The video has a powerful message, so make sure you watch it.
We want to know your thoughts. Do you think kids today are addicted to technology? Is it taking away from the time they should be spending outdoors and socializing with other kids?
