Michael Douglas is now officially a grandfather! The 73-year-old actor had the chance to welcome his first grandchild just before the holidays.
Cameron Douglas, Michael's eldest child whom he shares with first wife Diandra Luker, became the proud father with his girlfriend Viviane Thibes.
"Today my appreciation for Mother's all over the world has reached new heights...today I took part in a miracle as my baby girl was introduced to the world through a beautiful Amazon warrior...I'm so proud of you @vivianethibes. 🕊#iloveyou," Cameron wrote on his Instagram post.
Michael also has two children, 17-year-old Dylan and 14-year-old Carys, with his second wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones.
"Dylan and Carys love being an aunt and uncle and we're so happy to be her Bubba and Zeze," Michael shared.
The birth of Cameron's baby girl came just 16 months after he was released from prison after serving a near 7-year sentence for a drug conviction. In 2010, he was sentenced to five years in prison for possession of heroin and selling methamphetamine. His sentence was extended after he confessed to smuggling drugs into prison.
Despite their stressed past, Cameron said that he and his family are "closer now than ever."
"In difficult times, we tend to come closer. It is a beautiful sort of trait that we have," Cameron said, adding, "My father and I have an amazing relationship. I love spending time with him, and I will spend as much time with him as I can."
So you can imagine how much this first-time grandfather was beaming the first time he met his granddaughter.
The Basic Instinct actor was the first to share a photo of the new addition.
"Congratulations to my son, Cameron, and lovely Viviane, on the birth of their daughter Lua!" Michael captioned the photo of the newborn.
Her name, Lua Izzy, carries special meaning to the Douglas family. Izzy is a tribute to her great-grandfather, Kirk Douglas, who was born Issur Danielovitch, and later went by Izzy.
Cameron went on to share a holiday photo of his proud family, including little Luna.
Congratulations to the happy family!
