I love doing little crafts that can add to the decor around my house. My daughter is just just like me in that sense and she wants to as many arts and crafts with mom as she can. I find myself scouring the internet for easy crafts she can do and don't make a giant mess of my house.
She LOVES to color and I can tell you she has a million crayons and makers which made this particular project beyond perfect for her. I got the canvas at my local dollar store and literally cost me 2 bucks. The flowers I also purchased there as well. All in all this craft cost me a total of $5.00 to make!
I let her pick the colors she wanted and I helped her pick some others in varying shades. In our case, she went with colors that matched her room so she could put this on the wall when she was done. As if her room isn't covered in enough art work already why not add a few more to the empty wall space.
With 2 purchases from the local dollar store, a hair dryer (which I already have) and a hot glue gun, this was simple to make, and turned out really cute! She did the entire craft by herself and was SO proud when she was done she shows everyone that comes over. This is a great little activity to do with your kids, grand-kids that they will have just as much making it as they will love showing it off.

To make, select the colors you would like to use 2-3 different colors. Choose extra crayons between 2-3 different shades in each color and align them side by side in descending order from dark to lightest. Roughly anywhere between 6 - 9 crayons total.
Using a ruler, mark the bottom center of your canvas.
Place your first two crayons aligned with the center of the canvas.
Place a string of hot glue along side one edge of the crayon and press down firmly aligning the bottom with the edge of the canvas.
Continue adding your crayons grouping together colors and shades on both sides of your center line.
When finished, turn your canvas upside down and using your hair dryer on a hot but low speed setting begin to melt the tips of the crayons.
Continue to melt down the crayon wax down the canvas until the desire look is achieved.
Allow the wax to completely dry. To place the flowers, add a healthy dollop of hot glue to the bottom side of your flower with the stem removed.
Place the flowers within the corresponding shade on the canvas.
Allow to completely cool and voila! Hang and enjoy your work of art!
