It's only been a month since Meghan Markle became a mother. As many of you know it's never an easy time when you settle into parenthood for the first time. Katie Nicholl, who has written a series of biographies on the royal family, has been interviewed by ET and given a glimpse into the lives of the new hands-on parents.
Meghan made her first public outing since giving birth to Archie. She has been under some criticism lately. The duchess was noticeably absent from the past week's events commemorating the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings, and a state banquet at Buckingham Palace held in honour of US President Donald Trump. It was even rumored that Prince Harry snubbed President Trump over an interview in which Trump referred to Meghan as 'nasty'.
Meghan rode in the carriage alongside her husband, Prince Harry; Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall; and her sister-in-law Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge.
I think it's ridiculous but Meghan also attracted some criticism about her appearance during Trooping The Colour. Rather than rush to the gym like some new moms, the former actress is instead relishing her first weeks of parenthood, Nicholl told ET. “Meghan hasn't been hitting the gym -- she hasn't been in any hurry to get back into shape,” she said. “No hard training. No weights. She's enjoying this time -- she's being gentle to herself.”
Eagle eyed royal supporters also noticed that the duchess was seen sporting some new bling. It looks to be a diamond eternity ring and many speculated that it was a 'push present'. Nicholl however said it was a sweet gift from Prince Harry that she believes was a first anniversary present - as the couple wed on 19 May 2018.

“Beneath her engagement ring and her wedding band is a new eternity ring,” Nicholl said. “Some people speculated this was a push present, but I think in fact it is a first anniversary present.”
Many pointed out its poignant symbolism: It’s assumed to be an eternity ring, which is usually given on a momentous life occasion.
Now that Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland, has returned home overseas, the duchess will has the help of a nanny. The new royal childminder to has reportedly been asked to sign an 'extensive' non-disclosure agreement.
“I've heard from very reliable sources that the new nanny who has been appointed by the Sussexes has had to sign quite an extensive non-disclosure agreement,” Nicholl shared.
Looks like the duchess is going to remain very hands on and the nanny is not said to be on call for night shifts : “Meghan's been up in the night nursing, feeding on demand every few hours,” Nicholl noted. “Apparently he's a hungry little baby.”
This is an extra-special time for the royals and I don't fault them one bit for hiring a nanny.
