Actor Matthew McConaughey took last weekend from "just alright" to "alright, alright, alright" for deserving first responders.
A year after Texas was ravaged by Hurricane Harvey, McConaughey, a Texas native, helped to honor the state's emergency workers for their actions during the disaster.
And, of course, his tribute involved free bourbon.
"I'm Texas born and raised, so acknowledging the hard work and dedication of first responders in Houston is meaningful to me personally."
McConaughey spent Sunday delivering free lunch, frozen turkeys, and samples of Wild Turkey bourbon to first responders throughout Houston.
He even made time for the city's 911 operators and emergency room staff, who helped the city through the catastrophic storm.
"Basically today is about saying thank you to these people that were all on the front line and got out there to rescue people first," the actor said in a video from his visit to the Houston Fire Department.
The star's visit, and thoughtful gifts, just happened to fall on First Responders Day, which recognizes the important work of America's emergency departments.
McConaughey helped organize his busy day, which was sponsored by Wild Turkey, and thanked some of the departments he visited for supporting Team Rubicon, a charity for veterans and emergency workers that he also represents.
"I am glad to make it to Houston to recognize how important these folks are."
Photos from McConaughey's stops show him smiling and posing for photos, and showing off gifts of his own, like a bright red fire helmet.
"I'm Texas born and raised, so acknowledging the hard work and dedication of first responders in Houston is meaningful to me personally," McConaughey said in a press release about the event.
"Over the past year alone with the hurricanes in Puerto Rico, the Carolinas and Florida and the fires in California, the number of heroic men and women on the front lines of natural disasters is staggering. I am glad to make it to Houston to recognize how important these folks are."
The show of support even earned McConaughey a thank-you from Houston's Mayor Sylvester Turner.
"Honored to welcome him to our city and thank him for spending time and recognizing our [police officers, firefighters,] and 911 dispatchers for their service," he wrote on Twitter.
"That's a sexy man carrying a turkey!"
This is not the first time McConaughey and Wild Turkey have teamed up to recognize deserving people.
Last year, the actor marked his 47th birthday by handing out 4,500 frozen turkeys to the people of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, home of the Wild Turkey distillery.
While plenty of locals were happy to meet the star, a group of women called the Hot Mamas went viral for their reaction to McConaughey bringing them a fresh bird.
"Y'all know what this is?" the actor asked, holding up the frozen turkey.
"That's a sexy man carrying a turkey!" one of the women shouted back.
What a great thing to do for the city's first responders!
