Martina McBride is like country music royalty. With 13 albums, 25 tours, and 14 Grammy nominations, the Independence Day singer is one of the most well-respected singers in the business.
In 2011, McBride started a charity initiative called Team Martina, which was changed to Team Music Is Love. Regardless of the name, the goal is the same: give back whenever it's possible. Team Music Is Love has gotten involved with cancer research, hunger relief, combating domestic abuse, helping children in need, and started therapeutic music programs.
While she's on tour, McBride encourages everyone who attends her shows to make their home towns a better place.
One fan from Zainesville, Ohio lives by this motto and is a huge Martina McBride fan. Sandy, who lost four limbs this year, desperately wanted to attend McBride's concert in Ohio. She hoped her recovery would have progressed enough to attend, and her care team knew they had to do something special for her.
They contacted Martina McBride to see if there was anything she could do, and they never expected to her to do this.
Team Music is Love, along with Martina McBride herself, decided to throw a surprise party for Sandy with her closest family and friends.
Sandy was unsuspecting at first, not even recognizing her hero walk through the doors! But once she said "Hi, I'm Martina!" Sandy gasped and hugged the country star.
"You can't not feel good listening to her music, it's fantastic," Sandy says.
