The wrestling world is left grieving after the death of former WWE champion Brian Christopher Lawler. Lawler, the son of former WWE wrestler and color commentator Jerry Lawler, went by the stage name Grandmaster Sexay and was one half of the wrestling duo Too Cool.
Earlier this month, Lawler had been arrested and sent to jail after police had tried to pull him over and the former wrestler led them on a chase. He was booked for DUI and evading arrest, and bail was set at $40,000.
On July 29, while in prison, TMZ reported that Lawler had been found in his jail cell after attempting to hang himself. Guards found the former wrestler and took him to the hospital, where he was placed on life support in critical condition. Just hours later, it was confirmed that Lawler had passed away. His father, brother, and other family members were with him when he passed.
The WWE released a statement on Lawler's passing:
WWE is saddened to learn that Brian Christopher Lawler, who is best known in WWE as Too Cool's Grandmaster Sexay, has passed away. Lawler, who is the son of WWE Hall of Famer Jerry "The King" Lawler, competed during the height of the Attitude Era. WWE extends its condolences to Lawler's family, friends and fans.
Other WWE stars also expressed their condolences.
RIP Brian Christopher. I think I had every piece of Too Cool merch in 2000.

1st time I worked with Brian Christopher was in Louisville I told him "Nobody wants to work with u. Let's have a great match and show them u can. Trust me, please. I'm not out to bury you" He did and we had many great matches. He was at times misunderstood. #RIPBrianChristopher
