She became an unlikely celebrity in her 70s as she baked mystery pies and covered the Olympics for her son's late-night show.

She was a cheerful addition to the show and it was always funny to watch her tease her son.

In addition to her Thanksgiving segments to stump David Letterman on National television, this Indiana homemaker made annual Mother's Day appearance as well. But she really began to shine when she left the kitchen.
