We all have our own opinions about breastfeeding mothers, but one thing we can all agree on is that after a certain age children shouldn't be breastfed.
Actress Kristen Bell opened up about her breastfeeding experiences on a new web series on EllenTube called Momsplaining. The 37-year-old mother-of-two told Scandal actress and new mom Katie Lowes about some of her uncomfortable experiences after giving birth to her children.
While Kristen said she'd only once begged her husband, Dax Shepard, to breastfeed from her, there are some woman who do this willingly on a regular basis.
For example, Jennifer Mulford from Atlanta, Georgia confidently started a breastfeeding relationship with her 36-year-old boyfriend. She had no choice but to take a leave of absence from work to breast pump every 2 hours to encourage her body to produce milk.
"At that moment I knew that I had a partner for life... we both wanted the same thing out of the relationship "“ a magical bond that only breastfeeding can achieve," Jennifer told The Sun.
When the topic of nursing came up, Kristen and Katie talked about "freeing the nipple," how babies latch, the taste of breast milk, and one of the things about breastfeeding many women don't talk about...
Kristen opened up about having mastitis three times, which is a deadly infection of the breast tissue that can spread to the bloodstream. This happens when a breastfeeding mother's milk ducts are blocked.
She expressed that those experiences were "the worst," having to be put on antibiotics twice. However, the third time she was in Atlanta and couldn't call a doctor to unblock her milk duct. Unfortunately, her baby had stopped nursing, and she was desperate to alleviate the excruciating pain she was in.
"I said to my husband, 'I really need you to suck this out. We could talk about it, we could be weird about it, or you could just go ahead and nurse,'" Kristen said. Soon after, Dax "was pulling out, and spitting into this cup."
If Dax is not "husband goals," we don't know who is! Although Katie seemed shocked to hear about Kristen's uncomfortable experience, Kristen seemed unbothered to open up about her mastitis.
"I've never been more in love in my life," she added.
