Nearly two weeks after it was revealed that Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West are growing their family again, the mom-to-be finally confirmed the exciting news.
As previously reported, the couple, who are already parents to three children, North, 5, Saint, 3, and one-year-old Chicago, are using a surrogate as they did with their third child. According to People, they had been planning for their fourth child right after Chicago was born last January.
Although Kim denied having these plans back during an interview with E! News in August, but either she and Kanye changed their mind right after or they just wanted to keep their decision private for some time.
The reality star recently appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and finally confirmed that the Wests are expanding and the baby's due date is "sometime soon."
Cohen also asked if the parents-to-be know what the sex of the baby is, and Kim revealed that she got drunk at the Christmas Eve she and Kanye hosted and told some people that they're having a boy. Since "it's out there," they're no longer keeping it a secret.
The host, who is also expecting his first child via surrogate, joked that Kim should consider naming her son after another place, specifically Calabasas but with a "K."
It looks like North will be a happy big sister because she has been hoping for a boy so Saint can have someone else to annoy.
"She said to me the other day, 'Mom ... we just need to have another baby brother so that Saint can just leave me alone ... so the girls can be on this side of the house and the boys can be on that side of the house,'" Kim explained on model Ashley Graham's podcast Pretty Big Deal.
Kim and Kanye have opted for surrogacy after she suffered serious complications during her first two pregnancies and was informed that it would be medically unsafe for her to get pregnant again. Kim suffered pre-eclampsia as well as placenta accreta, which occurs when the placenta gets too deeply attached to the uterine wall.
Following Saint's birth, the makeup mogul even considered having her uterus removed but decided that she did not want to undergo surgery, so surrogacy was the best option for her and Kanye.
"I enjoyed the surrogacy process. When it came time to breastfeed, I realized it was the best decision I have made "” it's a game changer," she said on Live with Kelly and Ryan back in May. "I can spend so much more time with the older kids, getting them used to the new baby."
